I didn’t post about my own situation because it involved another coworker/friend. It’s a good management lesson though : i told management I wanted to quit for family reasons and asked to be considered in the next round of layoff. They laid off my friend , offered me a full time management position though I’m currently part-time (and I am grateful for the opportunity though it’s the opposite of what I wanted). So I quit without getting a severance package, my friend was laid off (now happily employed at a competitor’s company) and my department lost a head count. It’s an overall lose lose situation that might be a good lesson for some .
